Catherine Warren Harris

Catherine Warren Harris was born on August 18, 1930, to the late Elzina Roberts and the late Jesse Warren. She transitioned peacefully in the Laurels of Bon Air Nursing Home in Richmond, Virginia on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

She was married to Joseph Harris, Jr. on January 15, 1950 and widowed on July 18, 1992, from that union they were the proud parents of seven children.

She was raised in Southampton County and received her High School education. She was employed as a seamstress at B.D. Laderberg and Sons. She was a community care giver, good cook and baker. We will miss her sweet potato pies and homemade biscuits.

Catherine was a faithful member of Gilfield Baptist Church, and she loved the Lord. She was a Deaconess, choir member and missionary. She touched so many lives. To know her is to love her. We will miss that beautiful, sweet smile.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three sons, Joseph Harris (Gwendolyn), Alvin Harris (Carolyn), Malcolm Harris (Michelle), two daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson (Reginald), Gilda Harris-Howard (Simon), son-in-laws Angriess Scott (Shelia), Lionel Pickens (Judy), two brothers Johnny Warren (Irene), Oliver Warren (Maryann), one sister Beatrice Whitney (Clyde). Thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Preceded in death: Jesse Leander Warren (Betty), Lizzie Artis (Otis), Viola Cary (Howard), Samuel Warren (Rebbie), Emmitt Warren (Elaine). She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

A public viewing will be held 3:00-7:00pm, Friday, October 10, 2025 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor, VA. Mother Harris will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
