Carolene Ruffin-Hunter

Mrs. Carolene Hunter born September 17, 1953, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.   She was preceded in death by her parents the late Tom and Martha Ruffin, her sisters: Fannie, Louvenia Ruffin, and Gloria Riddick; her brothers: James McCoy, Roy, Tom Jr., George Thomas, and Robert Ruffin, her nephew: Kaaron Ruffin. 

Carolene is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.  She was employed at GE and retired from Chesapeake Public Schools.   She attended Paul Branch Baptist Church, Suffolk, Virginia.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Mr. Nathaniel Hunter and her god-children: Sharde’ and Alex Brown, Jr. She is also survived by her siblings: Lucille Johnson, Alberta Neville, and Shirley Donaldson; her sisters-in-law: Gloria Hunter, Gwendolyn Hunter, and Linda Finney; her brothers-in-law: Lumumba Lasana (Thandi) and Larry Hunter (Anita); and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She enjoyed reading, shopping, taking walks at the waterfront, gospel quartet singing and spending time with family. 

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
