Carl Edward Eure, Jr., affectionately known as "Whiplash," passed away at his home in Suffolk, VA, on October 24, 2026. Born to the late Bishop Carl E. Eure, Sr. and Dorthy Everett Eure in Nansemond County, he was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kimberly Nicole Eure.
Carl committed his life to faith early on, serving proudly as Sunday Superintendent at both Holland Christian Church and First Baptist Church, and he was active with the Senior Usher, Senior Choir, and New Beginner Choir at New Olive Branch Baptist Church.
After a dedicated 42-year career at Kraft Foods, Carl retired, having held roles such as Shipping Coordinator, Union Vice Chair, Shop Steward, and Forklift Driver for the Shipping Department.
He was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Ravens, LA Dodgers, and Lakers, and he had a passion for drag racing and playing horseshoes. Carl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a cherished member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Essie Boone Eure; sister Barbara Ann Eure Ashe (P.A); niece Sheila Ashe Wesley (Therone) of Woodbridge, VA; nephew Thaddeus Ashe, Jr.; great-nephew Thaddeus Ashe, III; great-niece Tierra Ashe; and many more treasured family members including in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Obici Hospital, Leigh Memorial Hospital, Nanosecond Pointe, Sentara Hospice, and The Pines at Philadelphia Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, particularly acknowledging Joni Decosimo, Gloria Hemphill, Ashley Peterson, Hannah Lavine, Merver Fenner, and Dominique for their compassionate care.
A viewing is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of Carl's life will follow at noon on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
