Mr. Bobby Johnson

March 28, 1935 — June 7, 2021

Mr. Bobby Johnson of Suffolk, VA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Parsons Residential Care Center. Bobby was born March 28, 1935 in Nansemond County (now Suffolk, VA) and was the youngest child of the late Limus Johnson and Angeline Copeland Johnson. He accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He attended Nansemond County Training School, but left school to work on the farm and help his family. In his early years he worked for Edward Felton on his farms and later left to work for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and retired after 15 years of service. He also worked as the sexton of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church for 17 years and was a member of the Senior Usher Ministry and the Men's Ministry. Bobby was married to Freddie Blizzard Johnson and to that union two daughters and four sons were born. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Andriaelle Johnson Murphy and his brother Linwood Johnson. Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years Freddie Blizzard Johnson, one daughter, Teresa Johnson Barnes (Andrew); five sons, Cheyenne M. Johnson (Cynthia), Bobby A. Johnson (Toya), Keith C. Johnson (Laura), Alonzo L. Johnson (Kati), Bobby Ray Hunter (Leonita), one son-in-law, Kurt Murphy; sister, Virgie Johnson Picot; sister-in-law, Claudine Stokes Johnson; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a celebration of Life Service to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc., 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434. There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk, VA 23437.
