Bettie Mae White

September 30, 1941 — March 18, 2020

On the morning of March 18, 2020, the Lord added another Angel to his heavenly garden. After a lengthy illness, "Boot", as she was affectionately known as, was called home into eternal rest at her home in Suffolk, VA. Bettie was born on September 30, 1941 to the late Lee Curtis Saunders and Flossie Mae Saunders Eure. Bettie grew up on Dutch Road in the Holland area of Suffolk. She attended Holland grade school and Nansemond Training School, later named Southwestern in 1959. She was a domestic worker for Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Henry and Mrs. King all of Holland , VA. At a young age, Bettie took the role of a mother, helping support her youngest brother and sisters, after the death of her Dad. Bettie was a member of First Baptist Church, Holland, VA until the passing of her father, Lee Curtis. She later became an Missionary, Evangelist, Ministering at different churches and other organizations. Bettie obtained her missionary license in 1978 at Shining Light Church of Jesus of the Apostolic. Bettie loved to minister. She is preceded in death by her father, Lee Curtis Saunders, her mother, Flossie Mae Saunders Eure, siblings, Richard Henry, Curtis Lee Callis, Kelly Saunders and George Saunders. She is survived by her husband Wesley White of New York, her daughters, Angela Evans of Roanoke Rapids,NC, Emma "Doodie" Hollnad (Thomas) of Southampton, VA, Zina Saunders of Windsor, VA, Wesley M. White (Chanda) of Newport News, VA, Joseph K. White (Lori) of Richmond and her daughter Violet White Sylve (Gregory) of Suffolk. Bettie also have 16 grandchildren, 19 great grand children and one great great grand, Trinity A. Slade. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Edith, Carolyn Palmer (James), Robert Saunders, Joe B. Saunders (Mary) and Harry Saunders (Searina) all of Suffolk, VA. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She had devoted friends Vanessa Taylor Greene, Lorraine Mitchell, from A Caring Hands, Janet Jackson, Janice and Avril Smith all from Loving Care Home Health, Suffolk, VA A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County Street, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
