Bessie L. Dailey

Bessie L. Dailey, 77, of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Clara E. Jones and Horace Brinkley. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her step father, Jasper C. Jones; daughter, Joyce Lorraine; brother, Jasper C. Dailey; two brothers-in-law, Everett Stagg and Jasper R. Kee. She was educated in Suffolk Public Schools and worked in the New York Police Department School Safety Division where she received a Service Achievement Award. She retired in 2006 after 38 years of faithful and dedicated service. Bessie was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of Sunday School Class #4. She leaves to cherish her memory seven sisters, Stella M. Stagg of Bronx, NY, Shirley A. Kee, Janice Wilson, Delois Dailey, Brenda Deloatch (Odell), Clara Pittman and Donna Marie Brinkley all of Suffolk, VA; four brothers, Samuel L. Dailey, Suffolk, VA, Julius Brinkley (Letryce) of Hackensack N.J, Terrance Hartley of Englewood, N.J and Edwin Brinkley(Jean) of Suffolk, VA; step mother, Pearl Brinkley; Special Brother, Barron Dwight Gwaltney of Portsmouth, VA; godson, Devin Stagg; special friends, Beulah Diggs and Denise Artis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held will be held noon, Friday, July 30, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2635 E. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA. Rev.
