Bertha Lee Wiggins

Bertha (Bert) Lee Wiggins, 83 entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 23, 2025. She was born to Marion and Horace Odom on October 11, 1941, in the same community where she lived her entire life. She started school in what is now the church fellowship hall, later she would attend East Suffolk High School. She was the second born and oldest daughter, although not without fault she was a good and kind person, always willing to share with others. She loved her family and always supported and encouraged them.

Bert joined Diamond Grove Baptist Church at an early age, she served in the choir and later was installed as a deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter Fay and six siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory Cornelius Wiggins, devoted husband of 62 years. Two daughters Treva (Eddie) Perry and Alexia Wiggins, three grandsons: Justin Jordan, Cedric Jefferson, and Marcus Lazenby. One granddaughter Esperanza Perry. Five siblings, Willie Odom (Doretha) of Bloomfield, NJ, Kathleen Marshall (Alivn) of Fayetteville, NC, George Odom (Juanita), Ronald Odom of Suffolk and Andrea Beckman of Newport News, VA. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, her community, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, 6890 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
