Bennie Holloway, Sr.

Bennie Holloway, Sr., 93, of Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, Virginia went home to be with Jesus Sunday, November 1, 2020. Bennie was born November 10, 1962 in Southampton County, VA, to the late Robert and Vera Mae Holloway. He received his education in Isle of Wight and Ivor Public School System. Bennie was a hard worker and he worked at the shipyard and retired from Planters Peanut. After retirement, he farmed and sold vegetables to his neighbors and friends. He also had a passion for fishing. On his life journey, he met and married Annie Maude Clark on January 19. From this union was born nine children. Annie Maude preceded him in death October 2007. As he continued his life's journey, he met and married Lois Johnson in Feb 2019. She also preceded him in death in April 2019. There were were step children brought into this union; AC Fuller Johnson, Deborah Johnson (deceased), Sharon Dixon (Johnny) and a devoted sister, Ronda Turner (Thomas Sr.), special nephew, Thomas Turner, Jr. better known as (T.J). His life's journey led him to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1983 he was ordained a Deacon at Healing Chapel Baptist Church. He later joined Little Bethel Baptist Church and served as a Deacon until his health began to fail. His favorite scripture is John 9:31 "Now we know that God heareth not sinners; but if any many be a worshipper of God and doeth his will, him be hearth. His favorite songs are; "This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine and Falling In Love with Jesus." His favorite phrase was "Holloway from Nottoway, If it aint Holloway, it's no way!!!!" He is survived by his children: Jermone (Laura), Celestine, Vera Joyce (Jeffrey), Annette (Stanley-deceased), Larry (Cathy), Bennie Jr, Wayne, Elaine (daughter-in-law) his son Bobby preceded him in death. Also mourning his passing are grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends. A special Trustee Leon Copeland, a devoted caregiver Alfred Turner and adopted daughter, Barbara (Robert) A viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Little Bethel Baptist Church. He will be will laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
