Barbara Jean Ridgeway, 52, of North Capital Street transitioned Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Sentara Obici Hospital. Barbara was born on October 25, 1965 in Suffolk, VA to late Barbara Hargrove and the late Leroy Bremby and was later adopted by the late Lafayette Vernon Hunter. She was a graduate of John Yeates High School and loved cooking and helping people. Barbara was a somewhat "mean" but valuable manager at Hardee's for almost 13 years. She was a lover of quartet music. Every-time a gospel concert came to town Barbara was there, and she would sometimes travel out of town as well. Barbara was a God fearing woman and she knew that whatever problem she had, her heavenly father would solve it.Barbara was a member of Tabernacle Baptist and Oak Grove Baptist as a child. As an adult she became a member of Friendship where her daughter Ariana was Christened and later moved on to St. Timothy Baptist and worshiped there for 17 years. She then became a member of R.A.W Ministries and ended her journey on earth as a member of Greater Faith Worship Center. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ariana Hunter of Suffolk; sister, Wanda Lister of Norfolk; three brothers, James Bremby Sr., Leroy Bremby both of Suffolk and Dontonio Roberts of Savannah, GA; nieces and nephews, Johnny, Crystal, Mia, James, Jr., Rosalyn (Cleshaun), Lakeisha; great nieces and nephews, Jalyn, Se’maj, Donavon, Grayson and Da’vion; Best Friends, Tina Almond, Barbara Wilson and Renee Steward; God parent Sarah Bynum; god sister, Barabara Herod and Chevalette Gilliam. A celebration of life will be held noon Friday, May 25, 2016 at Rising St. James P.H.C. She will be laid to rest in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
