Barbara McClenny

Barbara McClenny, 76, of Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, Virginia transitioned Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. Barbara was born in Newport News, Virginia to the late Willie Odelle Ricks and James H. Ricks. She was a graduate of Hayden High School and attended Virginia State University and John Tyler Community College. She retired from Tidewater Occupational Center after 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a member of Gilfield Baptist Church where she served as Deacon and Treasurer. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Robert B. McClenny, Sr., of Zuni; three daughters, Bonita McClenny (Quincy) of Fort Washington, MD, Bermina Nickerson (James) of Suffolk, VA and Bianca Beckman (Jim) of Mableton, GA; son, Robert B. McClenny, Jr. (Doris) of Charlottesville, VA; three sisters, Yvonne Artis (Ruben -preceded) of Oxon Hill, MD, Janice Ricks Turner(Andrew) of Newport News, VA and Regina McClenney (David) of Hampton, VA; brother, James Ricks (Valerie) of Zuni, VA; four grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Portia McClenny and Barbara McClenny Memorial Fund. Contributions are payable to Gilfield Baptist Church: P.O. She will lie in state 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Gilfield Baptist Church, followed by a celebration of life at 2:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
