It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Jean Boone, aged 81, of Raven Croft Lane, Hampton, Virginia, who transitioned from this life on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to the late Georgia and James Bell, Barbara embraced life with an unwavering spirit and a deep commitment to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Genovia Bell, and her brothers, Robert Bell, Sr., Tom Bell, and James Bell, Sr.
Barbara was a devoted mother whose love knew no bounds. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her extended family, including her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will be carried on by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories, lovingly remembered by her children: Clyde Boone, Nita Jenkins (Leon Jenkins), Cynthia Boone, and Pamela Shivers (Lewis Shivers). Her grandchildren, Jhavaris Holland, Nolan Simmons, Tyson Hart, Quatae Boone, Dontarius Boone, Shequandra Boone, Dejon Jenkins, LaQuesha Ridley (Twins Dementia and Dementia Warren), as well as her great-grandchildren—Jada Lawrence, Chyna Cotton, Tamia Hart, Zayna Hart, Zara Dildy, Jovonia Holland, Dejon Jenkins, Taylor Jenkins, Amira Ridley, Kash Boone, Armna Ridley, Xyra Jenkins, Jaboria Smith, Tyon Hart, Tyuann Lewis, and Jkyiah Lewis—will carry her spirit in their hearts.
Barbara is also survived by her cherished sisters, Eva Mae Goodman and Ana Kindred; her brother, Archie Williams Bell (Wanda); sister-in-law, Janice Boone; special niece, Cora Bryant; two goddaughters, Vanessa White and Doressa Cremble; and godson, Terry Robinson, along with a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Carver Cemetery, Crocker Funeral Home, Inc., and to the compassionate individuals who provided support during this time, including Gail Turner, Clarence Ash III, Ebony Watford, Derik Adams, Tyrone Evans, and the Sheriff Department.
A public viewing will be held from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of Barbara's life will take place at noon on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, followed by her interment at Carver Memorial Cemetery. As we gather to honor her remarkable life, let us celebrate the love and joy she brought to us all.
