Celebrating the Life of

Don Cornelius Newby Jr.

Don Cornelius Newby Jr. peacefully answered the call of the Almighty and entered his eternal heavenly home on September 21, 2026. He was born on April 8, 2025, in Suffolk, Virginia, bringing an abundance of love, joy, and happiness into the lives of everyone blessed to know him.

Don was a joyful and loving child who enjoyed playing with his teddy bears and trucks. He had a love for good food and was always known for taking someone’s chicken. His playful personality and infectious smile made him truly special. Don was affectionately known by many loving nicknames, including “Nukie,” “Fat Baby,” “Baby Dee,” and many others. No matter what name he was called, he was loved beyond measure.

Don was a beloved member of Faith, Hope and Love Ministries in Carrsville, Virginia, where he was surrounded by faith, love, and a church family that cherished him. Don had a special gift for making people smile and brought happiness wherever he went. His presence was a blessing, and his beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Shirley Bannister; grandfather, Floyd Newby; and brother, Dontavis Newby.

Those left to cherish his precious memories include his devoted mother, Monique Boone; his father, Don Newby Sr.; his sisters, Nikki Lewis, Tamari Whitehead, and Triniyah Batten; and his brothers, Dejon Williams and Travis Brown Jr.

He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmother, Margaret Newby; aunts, Angel Bannister(avery), Devin Bannister, Judy Wiggins (Lloyd), Sabrina Norfleet (Willie), and Vicky Holland (Jessie) and Margaret Newby ; uncles, Darvell Bannister, Vincent Newby, and John Newby; godfathers and godmothers, Keith Perry Albert Goodman, Tarsha Beale (Melquan), Kalisha Batten(Timothy)Nicole McCullough, and Ogo Ajumobi(Daniel); Sonya Perkson (Chris); a special person, Robert Batten (Kiki); and a special loved one, Tameka Perkson (Mi-Mi).

Don leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family members, church family, and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Forever in Our Hearts

Though our hearts are heavy and our eyes are filled with tears, we find comfort in knowing that Don is now resting safely in the arms of the Lord. His time with us may have been far too short, but the love he gave, the smiles he created, and the joy he brought into our lives will remain with us forever.

Don’s laughter, his playful spirit, his sweet personality, and all the little things that made him uniquely “Nukie,” “Fat Baby,” and “Baby Dee” will forever be treasured. Every memory is a precious reminder of the beautiful life he touched.

We may not understand why God called him home so soon, but we trust in His promise that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We hold close the assurance that this is not goodbye, but a temporary separation until we meet again.

Sleep peacefully, sweet Don.

Your little hands may no longer hold your teddy bears or trucks, but your memory will forever be held in our hearts. Your smile will continue to shine through the lives you touched, and your love will never fade.

Until we meet again,

Rest in the arms of Jesus.

You are deeply loved. You are forever remembered. And you will never be forgotten.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant…”

Matthew 25:23
