Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint.

We mourn the loss of our devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend Aubrey Anthony Whitfield. Aubrey was born Friday, October 23rd, 1953 in (Nansemond County) Suffolk, Virginia to the late Robert & Emma Marie Whitfield. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Roderick (Stell) Whitfield & Michael O. Whitfield.

Aubrey graduated from Forest Glen High School in 1971 when it first integrated. After graduation he began a long career of 25 years at the Newport News Shipyard as a Welder. Later, he continued his career as a Maintenance Worker in Suffolk City Schools. Aubrey enjoyed family, soulful music, grilling outside, and family-oriented events. On any given Sunday, Monday, or Thursday you could always catch him watching his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, on the big screen. He loved his Steelers and enjoyed good natured teasing with family if their team lost against the Steelers.

Aubrey leaves to cherish his memories his phenomenal wife of 49 years, Diane Benton Whitfield, an amazingly devoted daughter, Patrice Diane Whitfield, and his precious princess granddaughter, Samara Divine Whitfield of Portsmouth, VA; one brother, Phillip Darnell Whitfield of Suffolk, VA; three sisters, Robin Whitfield Murphy (Clarence) of Franklin, VA, Donna Renee Whitfield and Karen Yvonne Whitfield, both of Suffolk, VA; 2 nephews, Brandon Ramon Whitfield of District Heights, MD and Jordan Juwan Murphy of Franklin, VA; one Aunt, Thelma Copeland; one uncle, Lorenzo Copeland (Evelyn), both of Suffolk, VA and a host of other brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
