Athalia Wright

May 27, 1960 — September 6, 2021

On September 6, 2021 Athalia Wright, native of Suffolk Virginia, transitioned from time to eternity. She was the daughter of the late Jeanette Boone and Johnny Boone, Sr. (Living). Athalia was a truly beautiful inside and out. In early life she grow up in Suffolk, VA where she graduated from John Yeates High School and began life as an adult. For years she worked an domestic engineer. Athalia also known as “Tootie” a name that everyone knew her by, was a woman who loved God & to serve. She was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Larry Gray, Sr. where she served as a choir member, on the usher board, on the hospitality committee, and assisted in whatever areas she could help the ministry. Tootie loved and helped raise dozens of children in the community. She was a friend to many and loved by all she encountered. She would help anyone with anything, if it was in her power she would do it. When you heard Tootie’s name you would think about her famous “Deviled Eggs!” She loved collecting elephants, watching game shows and soap operas! Tootie also loved to walk, if she wanted to go anywhere and it was in walking distance she would walk. She leaves her legacy, her daughter Krystal Wright of Suffolk, VA; her son Vashawn Wright (Shertina) of Suffolk, VA; three sisters Carmen Hall (Roderick) of Suffolk, VA, Lillian Green (Donald) of Suffolk, VA, and Yvonnedria Boone of Suffolk, VA; one Sister in Love Darlene Wright (Carey Wright-Deceased) of Portsmouth, VA; one brother Johnny Boone, Jr. of Suffolk, VA; three grandchildren Sh'miah Wright, Dashawn Wright, Xzavier Hart and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends. A public viewing will be held 12 noon- 2pm Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A graveside service will be held 2:30pm Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Professional services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
