Arlean Sawyer Harrell passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 at her home of Roland Street in Suffolk, VA. Arlean was born on November 14, 1931 in Gates County, North Carolina to her predeceased parents; John Jack & Ida M. Sawyer and later was predeceased by her late husband, David J. Harrell. She was also predeceased by 12 sisters; Oviller, Irazonia, Sarah, Gussie, Minta, Velma, Geraldine, Minnie, Jessie, Enllmer, Johnnie, and Tatmur Sawyer, and 8 brothers; Matthew, J.W., Snowglean, Herman, Hillman, Norfleet, John, and Jack Sawyer, Jr. She attended the Sunbury Public School in North Carolina. Arlean retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard of Portsmouth, VA with 24 years of service. She loved cooking, flowers, gardening, listening to music, and spending time with her family. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior. Arlean was a faithful member of Tabernacle Christian United Church of Christ of Suffolk, VA under the leadership of Reverend Junius O. Lee, including Rev. Morrison, and Rev. Carlton R. Upton, Sr. Arlean is survived by two daughters; Cynthia Sheppard (James) of Scottsville, VA, and Angela V. Arrington of Suffolk, VA, three sons; Ronnie, Shelton P. and Jefferson B. Deloatch, all of Suffolk, VA and one predeceased son, Nikita R. Deloatch. She also leaves loving memories with 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A public viewing will be held 2-4pm, Sunday, March 13, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday March 14, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on March 29, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
