Annie Lou Tucker, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2023, while residing in Virginia.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Blease Sims and Susie Wilson Sims, and her husband James Edward Tucker, Sr.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, she migrated to New Jersey at an early age Ann met her husband in the Bronx, New York and they married at a young age. Eventually they moved to Vauxhall, New Jersey, and raised their family
for 40 years. Ann retired from Mulberry Metals and relocated with her husband to Suffolk, Virginia. Ann was always an active participant in her community. She served as Den Mother to the Boy Scouts, and always a participant in Black Activism, during the era of obtaining equal rights. Ann participated as a host for her District during the Martin Luther King march to Washington, D.C.
Ann was known for always being a straight shooter, a rare breed that never sugar coated anything, always honest to her point of view. Ann was loving, caring, and had a smile that lit up her whole face. She loved to garden, and actively participated with the many family members and friends of her children. She was a devoted wife blessed to have a husband, who was also her Bestfriend. When Ann and Jimmy retired they became avid travellers.
Oh, what a blessed day it is for Ann to reunite with her beloved husband. They were the True Meaning of a Love Affair. Their relationship was rare, being each other's Bestfriend, and her husband treated her like a Queen. Married to each other for 40 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Mark (Annette), and James Tucker, as well as her daughter Robyn N. Tucker, sisters, Dr. Margaret Timmons, and Bellma Houston, sister-in-law Jean Holmes and LaVerne Branch; grandchildren, Mark, Ashley, Amanda and Alexis; and a host of nephews, nieces, and many other loving relatives and friends.
