Anna Mary Ricks

March 18, 1926 — February 22, 2018

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, I went with the Heavenly Angels into the presence of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who transformed my earthly form into a spritual form. She was born on March 18, 1926, In Nansemond County, Virginia, to the late Mr. James Arthur Copeland and Mrs. Sarah Mulqueen Copeland. She was preceded in death by Mr. Herbert Ashley Ricks, Jr., her beloved husband of 52 years; beloved brothers, Jasper Copeland, James Copeland, William Copeland, Horace Copeland, and her beloved sister, Mrs. Elsie Mae Copeland Skeeter. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and aunt to all her nephews and nieces, and a friend to many, and loved by all.She received her education in the Nansemond County Public School System. A woman of great talents, she became, an excellent homemaker; professional seamstress; ulpholster; interior decorator, arts and crafts expert; honorable 4-H Club Leader and home economics instructor teaching young women how to cook, bake and decorate with various creative artistic techniques-and clothes designing-a beloved mentor. Surely her family and friends could attest to her delicious, Creative Meals, cakes, pies and assorted desserts. She was a repected employee of Walmart Super Center, Suffolk, VA for 14 years. She loved and faithfully served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A woman of great courage, dignity and honor who dedicated her loving care to her family and was a caregiver to her elderly parents for many years. She was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Chruch, Suffolk, VA., for many decades and faitfully served in the choir, Sunday School position, and the Womens' Auxiliaries-in various capacities. She later became a consecrated member of the First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, Suffolk, VA., and served for many wonderful years. She leaves to cherish her loving memory; her faithful, loving, devoted niece and surrogate daughter and caregiver, Mrs. Theresa Mulqueen Skeeter-Roberts of Yorktown, Virginia; god children, Wallace Hall and Nikkole Hall (Ms. Glenda Skeeter Hall), Pasadena, CA., Linette Ricks Holmes (James), sister-in-law, Harrisburg, PA., Mr. Herman Ricks (Mary), son-in-law, Maryland, and a multitude of nephews, nieces and friends.Although your physical loving, beautiful nature will be sorely missed-when our lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns on that great Resurrection Day, we shall be together in eternity-until then, rest in peace with Jesus. As the late Dr. Billy Graham, Renowned Pastor once said:'One Day they will say I'm dead-not-true-I just changed my address"! Glory to God! Amen!A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
