Reverend Amos Redell Riddick

March 6, 1970 — January 14, 2019

Rev. Amos Redell Riddick, 48, was born on March 6, 1970. He was called home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2019 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Vernon Redell Riddick and Peggy Ann Riddick. Rev. Riddick attended Gates County High School. He attended Paul D. Camp Community College (Suffolk, VA) and studied Criminal Justice. Rev. Riddick joined New Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Gates, North Carolina at an early age. He was an usher, choir member, musician, and later became an associate minister there. He started his own church organization called Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. He was a musician for many churches and groups. He created three family groups called Riddick and Johnson Singers, Flames of Joy, and the Gospel Keys. The Gospel Keys made their first CD under his leadership. Rev. Amos R. Riddick's survivors are his mother, Peggy Ann Riddick, Suffolk, VA; sisters, Averil Michelle Riddick, Paula Keyes, and Tiffany Pope (Lamar) all of Suffolk, Virginia; three nephews, two nieces; one great niece;two great nephews; and a host of family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at New Piney Grove Baptist Church, 598 Medical Center Road, Gates, N.C. He will be laid to rest in Laurel Hill U.C.C.
