Alton Louis Skeeter

January 12, 1936 — December 18, 2018

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Alton Louis Skeeter otherwise known to most people as "Skeet" transitioned peacefully at his residence in Virginia Beach, VA. He was a native of Nansemond County. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwina Brinkley Skeeter and Earl J. Skeeter, Sr., his brothers, Earl J. Skeeter, Jr., Reginald Skeeter and nephew, Nikita Skeeter. He was a former member of First Baptist Church Mahan. Alton was a graduate of East Suffolk School and continued study at Norfolk State College. He served as Director of Data Processing Division at Norfolk State from 1966-1972. He was Senior Vice-President of Operations for Systems Management Corporation from 1972-1990. He was a computer science instructor at Norfolk State College., and a Board member of Bon Secours Hospital and Clinic. Soon after, he incorporated his own business PC Right, INc. and retired in 2014. Alton is survived by his loving sister, Jacqueline Skeeter; the love of his life (50+years), Shirley W. Barnes; adopted son, Anthony “Ricky” Barnes and his adopted extended grandchildren, Shaun, Arne, Tenesha, Anthony, Ryan, Marcus, RicCara, and thirteen great-grandchildren whom he loved and adored; sister-in-law, Theresa Skeeter; two nephews, Nikita Olds, Walid Skeeter, and Tony Skeeter; two nieces, Joy Olds and Jackie Olds. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
