October 11, 1939 — February 7, 2019

Almeta Alcelia Daughtrey, 79, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 7,2019 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Almeta, affectionately known as “Sis”, was born on October 11, 1939 in Nansemond County, Virginia to the late Margaret Langston Brown and James T. Daughtrey.  She created a legacy of love during her lifetime. Leaving to cherish her beautiful memories are her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Karl S. and Betty J. Daughtrey; two granddaughters, Tyechia Parker(LaTreal) and Tiffany Daughtrey; two great-grandchildren, LaTreal Jr. and Koi Parker; brother, James Thomas Daughtrey(Judy); niece, Monique Barnes; nephew, Kyle Christmas; and a host of cousins to include Horace Barnes, Vivian Barnes, Beulah Barnes Wright and family, Sharon Wallace Shelton and family, and Harold Wallace and family. She also leaves many lifelong friends.  A “Celebration of Life” service will be held 1:00 pm at Rising St James PHC Church at 201 North 6thStreet, Suffolk, VA on Saturday, February 16, 2019. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 East Washington Street, Suffolk, VA, on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The interment will be held at Carver Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service. Cards and expressions of love can be mailed to 22 Pine Cone Drive, Hampton, VA 23669.
