Alfreda L. Askew, a woman of grace, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on October 4, 1952, Alfreda spent her life transforming the world around her into something more beautiful, leaving behind a legacy of love, artistry, and strength.
Alfreda was known for her remarkable eye for detail and her vibrant spirit. A gifted artist in her own right, she found great joy in crafting and interior decorating, possessing a unique ability to turn any house into a warm, inviting home. Her creativity was a reflection of the care and thoughtfulness she poured into everything she did.
A pillar of stability for her family, Alfreda’s greatest pride was in the home she built and the children she nurtured. Her wisdom and steadying presence guided her family through every season of life.
Family Legacy
Alfreda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry and Dorothy Jeffries; her sisters, Tanya Jeffries and Norita Anderson; her brothers, Harry Jeffries Jr. and William McKinley Jeffries; and her grandson, Malcolm Perry.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Archie Askew; her loving daughter, Armona Evans and her husband Shannon Evans Sr.; and her cherished sons, Dante Elliott and Aaron Askew and his wife Tyanka Askew.
Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Ashley Fortin and her husband Samuel Fortin, Shannon Evans II, Myles Evans, Dante Elliott, Alyssa Elliott, Troy Elliott, Johnathan Boone, Aaryn Askew, and Aaliyah Askew. She is further survived by her precious great-grandchildren: Reyna Pelletier, Noah Fortin, and Ryder Fortin. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Kinnard; her sister-in-law, Patricia Askew-Hinkson and her husband Tony Hinkson; her older brother-in-law, William Askew; her sister-in-law, Erma Dianne Snipe; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside celebration will be held 3:00pm, Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity, compassion and care have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
