Alex Emmanuel Brown, Sr.

Mr. Alex Brown of Fallwater Way, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his residence. He was the son of Myrtle A. Brown and the late Herbert T. Brown. Besides his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Arto T. Brown. He was a graduate of John Yeates High School, after which he matriculated to Virginia State University. He retired from Suffolk Sheriff Department after 29 years of faithful and dedicated service and as a Security Officer at Sentara Obici Hospital. Alex was a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, Usher,sung in the Male Chorus and also served as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Aundrea L. Brown of Suffolk; three daughters, Sharde' Renita Brown of Portsmouth, Jasmine A. Cary of Chesapeake, and Javoni D. Cary of Suffolk; two sons, Alex E. Brown, Jr. of Suffolk and Barry D. Cary, Jr. of Chesapeake; mother, Myrtle A. Brown; sister, Annette O. Ricks (James) of Suffolk; two brothers, James L. Brown of Suffolk and Lessie M. Williams (Marion) of Chesapeake; two adopted brothers, Rick R. Scott, Sr of Suffolk and Bishop A. S. Hall, Sr. of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Alex E. Brown, III, Azaan Z. Cary, and Seyah A. L. Cary; Sally R. Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Balm Church East Campus. Bishop A. S. Hall, Sr. will officiate and Rev. Calvin Lillard will deliver the message of comfort.
