Dr. Albert Lee Gripper entered his eternal rest on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Sentara Leigh Hospital, Norfolk, VA. He was born April 9, 1948 to the late Paul and Geraldine Finney Gripper. Al predeceased is brother Paul Gripper II, and nephew Paul Gripper III. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and at an early age Al became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. he graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, PA. He received his BS in Accounting from Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA. He went on to pursue a MBA in Finance from City University, Bellevue, MN and PHD at Walden University, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Gripper, an accomplished scholar publication: "An Examination Application of Activity-Based Costing in The Service Sector." Ann Arbor, Mich; UMI (1996). Teaching and sharing his love for accounting was a vital part of his life and his career as he served as an Associate Professor, Adjunct Professor, Comptroller project Manager, Cost/Budget Manager, Management Consultant and Internal Auditor. He was employed by Western Electric, ICV, Inc., Lederle Laborites, and he taught at Livingston College and various other colleges. Dr. Gripper leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of thirty-one years. Margie, stepdaughter, Stephanie Boothe, Albany, NY; one aunt, Mrs. Josie Usher, Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law, Princess Boothe, Suffolk, VA, and Judy Gripper, Washington DC. Dr. Gripper also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends. many thanks and appreciation to Ms. Anne Boyce for her devotion, kindness and support as Dr. Al's caregivers. Condolences my be sent to Margie Boothe-Gripper 108, Spivey Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA 23434. A graveside service will be held noon, October, 10, 2020 at Benton Cemetery, Corapeake, NC.
