Addie was a loving, joyful God-fearing woman of strength and dignity, who never met a stranger. Her warmth and love touched everyone she encountered. She showed affectious kindness to everyone with either a warm embrace, words of wisdom and encouragement.
Addie, lovingly known as “Baby” by her husband James “Jimmy” Bull, will be remembered for her unwavering devotion as a wife, soulmate, and friend.
Addie was a lifelong resident of Suffolk, Virginia, graduating from Southwestern High School in the Class of 1967. She subsequently completed a welding certification at Paul D. Camp Community College and commenced her professional career as a welder at Brown & Jordan Furniture. Following a transition in her career path, she contributed several years of service at the Coffee Plant. Addie also successfully finished a pharmacy technician program; however, she ultimately dedicated herself to serving the community as a school bus driver for Suffolk Public Schools.
Addie was predeceased by her mother, Louise Copeland Johnson; her father, Murry “Bud” Johnson; and her sister, Ella Johnson Demiel.
She was the eldest sibling of Queenie Cross (Donald), Theodora Holland, Rosa Adkins, Matthew Jackson (Linda), Tyrone Riddick, Pattie Jo Riddick, Andre Riddick, Jessica Slade, and Travis Slade.
Addie leaves a legacy filled with love and treasured memories. She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) Bull; her daughter, Sharon Hyater (Melvin); her son, Murphy Bethea; her daughter, Lisa Lawrence-Taylor; her son, Nathan Lawrence (Tenisha); and her daughter, Kimberly Harmon (Travis). She is also remembered by twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, along with many close friends, coworkers, and classmates.
Her church family also cherishes her memory. Addie was an active member of Gates of Heaven COGIC, known for her warm welcome and dedication to serving others. Addie will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, especially the students she transported for Suffolk Public Schools.

A viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Gates of Heaven C.O.G.I.C. Mrs. Bull will be laid to rest at the Copeland Family Cemetery.
