Aaron Savage

September 15, 1920 — June 12, 2019

God, in His infinite wisdom, called our beloved Aaron Savage into eternal rest around noon on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Aaron was born September 15, 1920 to Isaac and Mary Savage.  He married Edna Beatrice Boone Savage on December 28, 1967.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Edna; sister Marie Bailey, and brothers Jesse, Isaac “PeeWee”, and Paul Savage. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  He retired from Peanut Growers Marketing Association as a peanut inspector.  He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, where he joined and was baptized in his seventies. Aaron was extremely health conscious.  He rode a bicycle until he was 86.  He exercised.  He read labels so he could eat healthy foods.  He loved working word search puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Arthalia Denise (Vernell) Kahan; a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Temple Hills, MD; four grandchildren, Alonzo (Tiffany) Boone, Sr. of Aulander, NC, DeNairio Boone of Hillcrest Heights, MD, Edna Denise Boone of Washington, DC, and Sheba Johnson of Suffolk; a nephew, Ronald (Yvonne) Johnson of Suffolk; two nieces, Diane (Alvin) Hillman of Temple Hills, MD and Brenda Bullock of Suffolk; eight great-grandchildren including his devoted great-granddaughter Ta’Kia, three great-great grandchildren, other relatives, caring neighbors, and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Monday, June 17, 2019 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
