Hattie N. Ponder

Hattie N. Ponder, 92, of Nansemond Pkwy was born August 12, 1925 and went into eternal rest on January 16, 2018. She was a native of Gates County, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Mary Lessie Norfleet; nine siblings and daughter, Shirley B. Walton.Hattie retired after 33 years of service at Shared Hospital Services.She leavs to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Jess L. Ponder, Sr.; son, Jess L. Ponder Jr.(Paulette); sister, Thelma Driver; grandchildren, Monica Turner, Silisa Barnes (Dennis Sr.) and Juanita Holland; great-grandchildren, Shina Donaldson, Erica Donaldson, Dennis Barnes, Jr., Dontrail Barnes, Makayla Thomas, Shirkera Barnes and Darius Barnes; great-great grandchildren, Kaiden Walker, Kailynn Fields, Bella Cowling; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. She will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
