Zack "BB" Horton

On December 27, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital, God called our beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Zack "BB" Horton, Jr. to heaven. Zack was born on June 6, 1929 in Isle of Wight County to the late Zack Horton Sr., and Marie Wilson Horton. He was educated in Isle of Wight Public School. BB confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Windsor, Virginia.He relocated to Suffolk in his early 20's where he met and married Dorothy Walker to this union one child Bridgette was born. He retired as a mechanic from Planters after 35 years of service. After retirement he was a greeter at Wal-Mart for eight years.BB was a kindhearted, love to laugh and joke individual. He was a good husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. No one was a stranger to him. BB was a faithful member of Christian Home Baptist Church where he served on the hospitality and usher ministries until his health begin to fail. During his battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's he never forgot Bridgette, Jerome, Carwyn, Pearleen and Pastor Waller and the name of his church.He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy W. Horton, and one sister, Hattie Marie Horton. Left to cherish his precious memory, one loving and faithful daughter, Bridgette Horton Rider, one devoted son-in-law, Jerome Rider, one grandson, Carwyn Jerome Rider, one loving sister, Pearleen Walker, three sisters-in-law, Dollie O. Fraizer, B. Lavonne Williams (Johnnie) and Sandra E. Warren all of Suffolk, VA; one brother-in-law, Theodore R. Hicks, Sr; three special cousins, Willie Wilson (Mildred) of Portsmouth, VA, Leon Wilson and Mack Wilson (Allona) of Baltimore, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon Monday, January 1, 2018 at Christian Home Baptist Church, 20123 Longview Drive, Windsor. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
