Peacefully and surrounded by family, Mr. Benjamin Eugene Holloman entered eternal peace on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va.
Ben, better known as “Winky”, was born in Southampton County on March 29, 1954 to Virginia and the late Calvin Holloman, Sr. Winky was also preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Holloman Jr. and his sister Gwendolyn Holloman.
Winky attended Southampton County Public Schools and at an early age, he learned the value of a good work ethic. He was employed with Smithfield Packing Company for over twenty years, where he worked diligently until he retired. He was a faithful member and “servant” of Gilfield Baptist Church, where he served as the Chair of the Kitchen Committee, Chair of the Usher Board and the church’s Custodian. Winky was a man that always believed in blessing others- he was always helping and feeding others, whether it was when he worked with the Food Bank or when he was cooking and fixing meals in his very own kitchen.
Our beloved Winky is survived by two sons, Marquise Binns (Marquita) and Da’Trell Binns (Sherika); two daughters, Tomeka Wiggins (Lawrence), and Tasha Ricks; a loving mother, Virginia Holloman; three dedicated sisters, Barbara Holloman, Juanita Holloman and Jacqueline Warren; two supportive brothers, Larry Holloman (Mary) and Gregory Holloman; five grandchildren, Faith, Malia, Tristen, Tasheka, and Gary; six great-grandchildren; two aunts, Ruth Holoman and Tinnile King; one uncle, Sylvester Holloman; a very special friend, Ms. Ida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Gilfield Baptist Church.
