Alfred "Neckbone" Leroy Wilson

Alfred Leroy Wilson, 82, departed this life on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, he was born August 7, 1935 to the late Eloys L. Liverman Wilson and Alfred Wilson. He received his education in Princess Anne County. He was a member of Little Piney Grove Baptist church, Virginia Beach most of his early life and served as a Deacon at Greater Faith Worship Center. He honorably discharged from the Army in 1957. Alfred retired after 40 years of dedicated service from Old Dominion Freight Line and was the founder and manager of New Spiritual Editions Gospel Group since 2000. In 1990 he married Barbara J. Boone. In this union was five children connected to this man of God. He enhanced their lives with Godly love. He was a lover of music his favorite group “The Dixie Humming Birds”. He loved sharing and always trusted God. He practiced what he talked about. One of his songs he loved was “There’s a Brightside somewhere” He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Barbara J. Wilson of Chesapeake; four daughters, Pamela Simmons (George) and Amanda Walker (Andre) both of Suffolk, Jessica Wilson of Norfolk, VA and Chavalelta Alliam (Wesley) of Portsmouth; two sons, Edward Walker (Chiffon) of Portsmouth, VA and Will Wilson of Chesapeake, Godsons, Lamont Faulk of Suffolk, Corey Saunders of Portsmouth and Melvin Wiggins of Chesapeake; two sisters, Patricia Powell (Milton)Corfield, NC, Mytra Ray Hoover of Charlotte, NC; five sisters-in-law, Peggy Boone, Glenda Boone and Sandra King all of Suffolk, Elder Louise Watford (Percy) and Vernell Boone; six brothers-in-law, Wilfred Boone of Virginia Beach, Glen Boone of Newport News, Henry Artis, Andrew Boone, Floyd Boone and Norman Boone all of Suffolk, VA; ten grandchildren, JaJuan Walker, Teahney Walker, Jamyir Walker, Jeremyah Walker, Jamayis Bryant, Janiyh Bryant, Shalecia Simmons, Sequoia Simmons, Khalil Wilson and Nicole McCullough; 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday September 28, 2017 at Believers Church 4500 Peek Trail, Chesapeake, VA. Pastor Nathaniel Thomas will deliver the eulogy. He will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
