Vivian Saunders Foreman

On September 13, 2017 at DePaul Hospital , Norfolk, Virginia Vivian Maurice Saunders Foreman transitioned from this life. She crossed over the threshold of glory and received the best gift ever, as she was welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.Vivian was born on February 3, 1931 in Nansemond County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Eddie and Mary Lizzie Darden Saunders. She was the loving wife of Lindley Milburn Foreman, Sr., and from that union three beautiful children were born. Mrs. Foreman was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess.She was a graduate of Nansemond County Training School and also a graduate of Hampton Institute School of Nursing and completed her Psychiatric Nursing education at Tuskegee Institute. Mrs. Foreman was a very active person and led quite a productive life. Her first position as nurse was at Raiford Hospital, Franklin, Virginia. Later she became head nurse at Norfolk General Hospital working in the oncology unit for 45+ years.After retirement, she began a new career with Mary Kay Cosmetics, quickly becoming a director. Working with Mary Kay introduced her to many new friends who she held dear to her heart. Vivian owned and operated Vivian Foreman's Cakes, specializing in wedding, birthday and special event cakes.Mrs. Foreman was also a tax preparer for many many years. She also found joy in purchasing and reselling antiques. But what gave her most joy was time spent with family, friends and her Heavenly father. Whenever she was with them or spoke of them, her smile illuminated the room. It was contagious. It was pure, it was humble. IT WAS VIVIAN.Mrs. foreman was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lindley Foreman, Sr., her son, Michael Ray Foreman, parents, Thomas Eddie and Mary Saunders, brothers, Edward Obediah Saunders and George Aldridge Saunders, two sisters, Flossie S. Brown and Arnell Saunders.She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Vivian Maurice Foreman Staples; son, Lindley M. Foreman Jr.; daughter-in-law Jean Foreman; two sisters, Josie Elizabeth Ash (Clarence, Sr.) and Helen Ingram; three brothers, Alphonza Saunders, Leon Saunders and Gene Ingram; brother-in-law, James Foreman (Carolyn), Velver Foreman (Beverly) and Fullard D. Foreman.; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Saunders, Pecolia Saunders, Keturah Saunders and Beoma Nunley (Melvin); nine grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a slew of friends, all who loved her to the moon and back.A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday September 22, 2017 at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
