Willie H. Jones, Jr., 60 of South Fourth Street, Suffolk, VA transitioned Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Scotland Neck, NC and the son of the late Willie Herbert Jones, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Young Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ernestine Gaines and Ethel Graves Willie was known as “Bro” by his sisters and “Gray Fox” by his childhood friends. He was a member of East End Baptist Church where he was an usher. Willie was employed as a welder at Suffolk Iron Works. Willie graduated from Scotland Neck High School in 1975 and furthered his education at Halifax Community College and Newport News Shipbuilding Welding School. In his spare time he enjoyed watching football (Philadelphia Eagles) and playing with his favorite girls: Charniece and Charrae. He enjoyed blowing bubbles and walking the girls to the cornerstore. He loved his family and always wanted to cook on the grill or have someone to cook on the grill and invite folks over to the house. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Charlene Banks Jones; one daughter, Charnele Banks of Newport News, VA; three sons, Terrance D. Battle of Denver, CO, Willie J. Battle of Dallas, TX and Captain Corey L. Banks (Roslyn) of Fort Hood in Killeen, TX; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Candies E. Holmes of Newport News, VA and Nellie Y. Jones of Scotland Neck, NC; mother-in-law, Earlene L. Banks; brother-in-law, Melvin Banks, Jr. (Kinesha); aunts, Etta Wallace of San Antonio, TX, Cowillie Young of Chesapeake, VA, Jean Olds (Hiwathia) of Brooklyn, NY and Edna Doggett of Raleigh, NC;  nieces, cousins, special niece: Mary “Nikki” Lovett; one special nephew, Keith A. Gaines; very special friends, Johnny Bowers, Ricky Williams, Antonio Turner, James “Buddy”  Smith, Bill Baker, James Ransom and Pete Tillery; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, Pine Street, Suffolk, VA. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 1 at the funeral home. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
