Thurman Lee Collins was born May, 23 1942 to the late Charlie Sr. and Betty Jordon Collins in Suffolk, Va. He was the 10th born of eleven children from their union. 1st Betty, 2nd Lillie V., 3rd Robert; 4th Minnie; 5th Clarine; 6th Effie; 7th Charlie Jr.; 8th Raymond; 9th John Henry and 11th Theodore. He was a faithful member to The New Baptist Church until his failed health. He was a retired U.S. Postal trucker driver in NYC who loved the lord, his family, friends and his guitar Rose. He was lead guitarist in the gospel group The Mighty Starlights and had a passion to teach others how to play. Thurman is survived by his wife, Gloria, and their six sons, Chris, Anthony, Dwayne ,Thurman, Gary, Terrence, as well as Michael Brown and Terrell Cox; -Grandchildren; Chris Jr, Crystal, Anthony Jr, Antwon, Danielle, Thurman Jr.III, Symia, Imani, Giovanni, Devanti, Gary Jr., Justin, Jayden, Shanice, Malikia, Kaelen and Kieran. -Great Grandchildren; Charles, Janaiyah, Chris Jr III., Lyric and Amar`e. And also survived by four siblings: Minnie Scott, Effie Barnes, Charlie Jr., and Theodore; In-laws; and by a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at New St. Mount Holiness Church, Franklin officiated by Bishop Charlie Collins. He will be laid to rest in Collins Family Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
