Flossie H. Bailey

On Friday, July 14, 2017, God called to rest our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Flossie H. Bailey. She was born on September 3, 1937 in Nansemond County, Virginia to the late William M. Hicks and Christener White Jones-Hicks. She was preceded in death by her son, Dexter M. Bailey.Flossie was a graduate of East Suffolk High School class of 1955. Sister Flossie was a faithful member of Mineral Spring Baptist Church where she served in teh choir and Treasury of the choir, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a former employee of 35 years of Suffolk, Public Schools as a Food Nutritionist.She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate life, her husband of 61 years, Lenton Stanley Bailey; sons, Darryl A. Bailey of Durham, NC and Dean M. Bailey of Suffolk, VA; daughter-in-law, Mamie Bailey of Suffolk, VA; sister, Dorothy Jackson of Suffolk, VA; brother, Charles E. Jones of Portsmouth, VA; six grandchildren, Darrryl A. Bailey, Jr, Toni M. Jenkins, Akeem D. Chamblee, Deneene J. Bailey, Dexter Bailey, Jr., and Bryant Bailey; three great grandchildren, Darianna Bailey, Jackson Bailey and DeJon Jenkins, Jr., two brothers-in-law, Fletcher C. Bailey (Emily) and Bernard W. Bailey (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Marian Porter, Lucille Anderson and Mildred Bailey; three devoted nieces, Karen Askew, Carol Boone and Angelica Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a devoted caretaker Shauna Williams.A celebration of life will be held noon Friday, July 21, 2017 at Mineral Spring Baptist Church.
