Larry D Watford

Larry Darnell Watford 62, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 6, 2017 while hospitalized at Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hampton, VA. Larry was born in Hertford, NC on June 10, 1955 to the late Albert "Lil Bud" and Jean Watford. He was preceeded by his brother Randy Watford and sister Shirley Watford Wiggins. Larry and his three siblings were reared by their parents on Halifax Street in Suffolk, VA where he attended Suffolk Publics schools and graduated from Suffolk High School in 1974. Larry enlisted in the United States Armed Forces in 1976 and completed many tours including Germany and Korea before his honorable discharge in 1986. After serving our country, Larry gained employment with Newport News Shipbuilding and Gwaltney Meat Packing plant in Smithfield, VA until his health began to fail. Larry is survived by his only child Antonio Ward Sr. of Chesapeake, VA, and his loving sister Sharon Watford of Snellville, GA He leaves to cherish in his memory two loving grandchildren Antonio Ward Jr of Virginia Beach, VA and La' Tisa Ward of Kennesaw, GA. Two neices Felecia Watford of Snellville, GA and Shanta Watford of Suffolk, VA Two nephews Corey Colander of Virginia Beach, VA and Donnie Colander of Dover, DE A large host of great neices and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Antioch UCC. He will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
