Thomas Porter

Thomas F. Porter, 86, of Holland Trace Sr. Apts of Franklin, Virginia transitioned from this life on July 5, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1930 to the late Susie P. Allmond and Joel Porter. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie G. Porter, sister, Jerlean Jordan, brothers, James Porter, Howard Porter, Eugene Porter, George Porter and Joel Porter. He attended Isle of Wight County Public School and retired from Gwaltney Meat Packing Company after 45 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Charles Porter; two grandchildren, Gracie Mae Porter and Gabriel Marie Porter; sister, Josephine Burch; two sisters-in-law, Velvin Smith and Bessie Galloway a caregiver of 17 years; three goddaughters, Sonya Brown, Carla Duck and Margaret Ferguson; a devoted Nurse of 6 years, Mrs. Vickie Beale; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Simmons will deliver the eulogy. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
