Our beloved Marie Rouhlac Mouling was born on December 23, 1917 to the late Wright and Arizona Rouhlac in Suffolk, Virginia. Arizona and Wright raised Marie and all of their seven children, in teh curc where Marie gave her life to Christ at an early age. In church, Marie developed her love for Christian music learning to play the piano and organ. Marie not only excelled musically, but academically as well. Marie attended the Suffolk County School System and worked for teh well-known Planters Peanut Factory.Trough her love of music Marie met teh first love of her life, the late Earnest B. Stokes. Ernest and Marie married and gave birth to their daughter, Bertha Louise Stokes (married to the late Harrison McDonald). Ernest and Marie relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they raised Bertha with love. As an inspiration to women in her day and today, Marie continued her education and graduated with a college degree in business administration from the Pioneer Business College in 1966. Wile in school and after graduating from college Marie worked as a House Manager for a number of families in Philadelphia. In addition, Marie's most notable gift was that of her musical talent and she was a highly sought pianist and organist in te Philadelphia musical church ministry community. Later in life Marie married Emanuel (Mannie) Birch of Philadelphia. Marie and Mannie were devout Christians and became staunch Democrats that actively campaigned and supported the Democratic National Committee through the years. Together Marie and Mannie enjoyed many happy years until his death.After living a long and full life in Philadelpia, Marie retired and moved to Prince George's County, Maryland. As a widow in Maryland, Marie met the late Bishop Thomas Mouling at a Senior Citizen Center bible study and eventually married. Never one to miss out on life, Marie continued to be an active Democrat and active member in her church community over the years joining the Jewels of Ebenezer, attending Women's Day retreats, and annual revivals. Marie was a faithful member of Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland until her passing June 10, 2017.Marie was dearly loved and preceded in death by her loving husband the late Bishop Thomas Mouling. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Bertha McDonald (Harrison Sr. d. 2013); 5 grandchildren Byron McDonald (Latoya), Dr. Harrison McDonald Jr. d. 1995 (Pam), Angela Burroughs (Robert), Mary Graves (Johnny d. 2000), Delores Randall (Gordon); a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life.A celebration of life will be held noon, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Saint John Pentecostal Holiness Church.
