Lee Otis “Big Love” Tillery, 71 of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned this life on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1946 to the late Amos and Irene Tillery. He was preceded in death by his son, Lee Otis Rountree; two sisters, Margaret Gambrell and C. Faye Tillery; six brothers, Thomas Lee Tillery, Amos Tillery, Jr., Richard Tillery, Sr., Larry Tillery, Billy Earl Briggs, and Donald Tillery. In high school, he was known as a gifted athlete. He was the captain of the basketball team and football team. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Shortly after graduating high school, he began his career at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock in 1966. He retired after 42 years as an Electrician. He was a former member of the Suffolk Booster’s Club. He also played baseball for First Baptist Church, Mahan. Lee Otis leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and dedicated wife of 28 years, Ruby Louise Tillery; four daughters, Lisa Rountree, Dr. Andrea Tillery Wilkins, Peggy Farrar, and Janice Waters; Five grandchildren, Nicol Franklin, LaKita Epps, Reicki Farrar, Dareni Farrar, and Wesley Wilkins; and four great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lovoil Tillery (Rory), Milton Tillery (Kim); three sisters, Irene Jordan (Jimmie), Joanne Ricks (Johnny), and Tonya Tillery; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Friday, June 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church Mahan Street. He will be laid to rest in Waters Family Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
