On May 27, 2017 the angel of the Lord carried home our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother to eternal rest.  Burnetha McClary McCrea was born on April 22, 1924 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late West and Alice McClary.  She later married the late Alvin McCrea, Sr.   She was blessed with (6) children Alvin, Deloris, Susie, James, Alice and Janevie.   She received her General Education Diploma (GED) while attending a program through East Suffolk Complex Center.  She was employed by Planters Peanut Company in Suffolk, Virginia for 36 years.  She was also a Mary Kay Consultant.  She furthered her career as a caregiver with Home Health Care Services. She had a heart and passion for caring for people.  Burnetha has been a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Galvin R. Daughtrey, Sr. for over 60 years.  She served with dedication in the following ministries; Deaconess Board, Mae’s Barnes Missionary Circle, Adult and Senior Choir and a faithful member of Sunday school.  She loved the Lord and family with all her heart.  She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin McCrea, Sr., one son Alvin McCrea, Jr., her brothers Jack Wilson and Eddie McClary and two sons- in- law Arthur Lavalle Graves and James Bost.  She leaves to cherish her memory four (4) daughters Deloris J. Bost , Susie M. Phillips of New Jersey, Alice M. Graves of Suffolk and Janieve B. Brooks (John) of Maryland, daughter- in -law Joyce McCrea and one (1) son James R. McCrea (Marie) of Suffolk ; twelve grandchildren,  twelve great grandchildren, one great –great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  The funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia, officiated by Reverend Daniel House, Pastor. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
