Janice Eley Ruffin

Janice Eley Ruffin, 80, of 525 High Street, Portsmouth transitioned Monday, May 15, 2017 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Lottie Riddick Wilkins and Sclay Eley. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Harold Ruffin, Jr, sister, Ruth E. Twine. She was a graduate of Paul D. Camp Community College. She received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. She was employed with Suffolk Public Schools and was a Teacher’s Assistant at Creekside Elementary. She retired in 2012 after numerous years of dedicated and faithful service. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, James L. Eley (Betty); niece, Hope Richardson; nephews, Christopher Twine, Michael Eley, Hilbert Twine and Dennis Richardson, Sr.,; great nieces, Jasmine Richardson and Tamerah Twine; great nephews, Joshua Richardson, Dennis Richardson, Jr., Tayvon Twine and Dominique Bell; special cousin Shirley Freeman. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
