Evonne McKelvin

Evonne McKelvin,79, of 4057 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, VA transitioned on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late John Delk and Ion Hollimon. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Delk.She was a graduate of Westside High School in Newark, N.J and attended the Business School of Newark. She retired as a Claims Examiner for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was also a Nursing Assistant and substitute teacher for Suffolk Public Schools. She was a member of Chapel Grove United Church of Christ in Windsor.She leaves to cherish her memory John Charles McKelvin; two daughters, Sheila Jackson-McCrea (Chip) of Herndon, VA and Michele Evonne Jackson of Suffolk, VA; one sister, Harriet Trent of Somerset, N.J; brother, Richard Delk of Coumden, D.E; three grandchildren, Jerome Jackson, Jr, Ashlee Jackson and Ethan T. McCrea; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Delk of Conyers, GA and Willie Mae of Camden. D.E; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Chapel Grove United Church of Christ, 7366 West Blackwater Road, Windsor, VA 23487.
