Benito M. Haskins was born to the union of the late Linwood and Louise Haskins on October 11, 1935 in Ivor, Virginia. On Wednesday, February 15, 2017 he transitioned peacefully into eternal rest. He was a truck driver in New Jersey and retired in 1995 after forty three years of dedicated service. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve F. Haskins.
He leaves to cherish his daughter, Dana Haskins Humphrey of Suffolk, Virginia; two sons, Darryl B. Haskins of San Pedro, Ca. and Derek L. Haskins of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Catherine Wiggins and Barbara Whitfield; brother Lawrence Haskins; six grandchildren, Danicia Humphrey, Drae’ Humphrey, Destiny Jacobs of Suffolk, Cameran Haskins, Dylan Haskins of California and Dequon Haskins of New York; two daughters-in-law, Roslyn Haskins of San Pedro, CA and Bonita Haskins of Brooklyn, NY; son-in-law, Larry Jacobs of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Alphonso Bastian of Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Haskins of Suffolk, VA and Julie Bastian of Houston, TX; a special thank you to John Lewis who has been like a son.
A celebration of life will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor, Virginia. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
