George Arthur Uzzle, Sr.

George Arthur Uzzle, 87 of General Mahone Blvd., Ivor, VA transitioned Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital.. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and the son of the late George and Mattie Uzzle. He retired from International Longshoreman Association after 43 years. He was a member of Holly Grove AME Church where he was a trustee. Mr. Uzzle was a certified barber and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received the Virginia Conference Sons of Thunder Award. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gladys M. Uzzle; two daughters, Sharon Woods of Baltimore, MD and Loretta Jasper of Orlando, FL; one son, George Uzzle, Jr. of Laurel, MD; one sister, Alberta Winslow of Windsor, VA; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Holly Grove AME Church, 21i404 Orbitt Road, Windsor, VA officiated by Rev. Marilyn Medley/Rev. Monty Royster.
