Phillip Andrew Skeeter, Sr.

July 24, 1956 — January 6, 2017

Phillip Andrew Skeeter, Sr. slipped suddenly away to his eternal rest on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital after a long battle of a heart condition. He was born in Nansemond County to the late Frederick and Myrtie Mae Skeeter. During his lifetime, he never met a stranger to which he didn’t greet and departed them with a smile. Sometimes a laugh or joke would close the conversation just to let you know everything was good. His kindness will be missed by many. Always willing to do a favor. Phillip was gainfully employed by numerous companies i.e.: Newport News Shipbuilding, Vico Construction, Norfolk Naval Air Station and a truck driver for the family owned business Skeeter Hauling. His biggest passion was the trade of being an auto body painter by nature. Phillip’s love for cars extended beyond just the look of them but the performance of them. This led to many speedways and race tracks which he wholeheartedly enjoyed. Phillip was preceded in death by his daughter Taylor Whitney Skeeter, brother, Calvin Skeeter and Sister Sylvonnia “Evelyn” Skeeter-Lee. He leaves to celebrate his life his children, Tremayne Holloway, Krystle Holloway, Phillip A. Skeeter II and Ernest Holmes; seven brothers, Durmand, Frederick Jr, Howard (Marilyn), Jerome (Barbara), Nathaniel (Linda), Theodore Skeeter and Michael Everett; three sisters, Leandrey Mason (Jethro), Alma Barber (Ronnie), and Quay Sawyer; brother-in-law, Clarence Lee; grandchildren, Tianna Askew, Caleb Holloway, Adeah Holloway, Tyasia Williams, Seyvion Williams and Kase Williams; four aunts, Florine Skeeter, Irene Lundy of Suffolk, VA, Janet Riddick, Elnora Tranum of New York City; one uncle Frank Skeeter of Suffolk, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who became family over the years. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Mt. Ararat Christian Church. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
