John C. Everett

July 15, 1919 — December 31, 2016

John Chester Everett was born in Como, North Carolina to the proud parents of Henry and Genevieve Everett on July 15, 1919. He was one of five children born to this union of three girls and two boys.John was educated in North Carolina and after finishing school, he eventually got a job with a piping company and in his off time, he and his two buddies would drive through the residential area in John's car...you see, john's father always made sure that his son had a car to get around the city. Striking out on his own aas a young man, john moved from North Carolina to Suffolk, Virginia and his attention was quickly caught by this beautiful young lady whom he would see everyday swinging on the portch in the front of the home of the people she worked for-always reading her bible. Everyday after that, he would drive to that home and just sit in his car, staring at this young lady. One day, fainally getting up the nerve to get out of the car and walk up to the house, John politely introduced himself to miss lessie and the rest (As they say, is history)! After dating for 6 moths, the two knew that they were meant to be together for life and they were married on February 8th, 1941 to this wonderful union, were born one son, Chester Earl, born n 1943. Once the loving couple settled in New York, John fquickly landed a job at the Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn, NY. and in 1958, they welcomed their daughter Sheila Ann to the family.John and Lessie soon became devoted members of Holy Rosary Church which also gave them the opportunity of placing their children into Holy Rosary Catholic School and their parents watched them grown and bloom in knowledge until the two children graduated.John continuously shared church fellowship along with his wife and later on in his years, he decided to convert from the Baptist Faith to Catholicism and participated (In his own way) of enjoying mass each Sunday. He loved the songs and every now and then, you would hear his deep voice during the sermons, belting out a strong "Amen"! or Hallelujah"!With greatdevotion and dedication, john found himself reaching the highest degree in the Masonic Order and he was granted the title of Grand Worshipful Master!John will be profoundly missed. He was preceded in death by his son Chester Everett. John leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 75 years, Lessie Everett, his daughter, Sheila White, son in law, Joseph White, his grandson, Jermaine White and Jermaine's wife Shareeeta, two great granddaughters, Jayla and Mia White. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of John C.
