Mrs. Marilyn Alease Giles, 84, left us December 26, 2016 with family by her bedside at home.Marilyn was a native of Nansemond County, where she was born November 6, 1932 to the late Thomas J. And Suler Jones. She attended Nansemond County Public Schools where she later met and married Thomas Giles. She was a devoted homemaker and wife, endearing to her children. Her interest included family and shopping. She enjoyed hearing compliments about her silvery shiny hair. her love for laughter and witty personality was sure to brighten any given moment.Her survivors include two sons; Thomas M. Giles (Odell) of Franklina nd Kenney S. Giles of Suffolk; four daughters, Marilyn C. Batten (Evwell) of Suffolk, Joslyn Y. Hall of Portsmouth, Karla McNeal of Portsmouth and Kendall M. Giles-Lewis of Suffolk; eight grandchidren, Davenna C. Melton, Evwell Batten, Hasanii J. Hall, Duane Batten, Jamila M. Bowser, Maya J. Hall, Leslie Davis, and Quayson Lewis; nine great-grandchildren, Ayana Everett, Shere' Davis, Adrianna Hall, Jaleyah Minggia, Calista Brown, Sarai Bowser, Semaj Archie, Aysia Batten and Jade Batten; one sister, Georgette Thomas; two brothers, Thomas Chapman and Bruce Jones (Shirley) sister-in-law, Elsie Chapman; a host of nieces newphews, family and friends.A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Macedonia Baptist Church 8300 Crittenden Road. She will be laid to rest in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
