Alvin “Little Alvin” Goodman, Jr., 77, of 192 Greenfield Crescent transitioned Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his residence. He was born to late Pastor Ophelia B. Goodman and Alvin Goodman, Sr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Oliphant; two brothers, Hugh Goodman and James T. Goodman.
Alvin was a Master Mechanic and was self-employed and owner of Al’s Auto Sales and Repairs and Goodman’s landscaping/ Heavy Equipment.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 56 years, Minister Beverly Worrell Goodman of Suffolk, VA; two daughters, Sherry D. Goodman and Beverly Denise Howell (Darren); four sons, Alvin Goodman, III (Tonia), Reginald A. Goodman, Dennis J. Goodman and Paul L. Goodman (Kelly), seven sisters, Mother Virginia Warren, Rev. Catherine Whittington, Marion Anderson, Evangelist Evelyn Brown, Patricia Brown, Bishop Ophelia Paige Pringle and Elder Linda Wright-Boone; two brothers, Raymond Goodman, Sr. (Laura) and Elder Bobby Goodman (Cassandra); 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Claudia Goodman and Chris Goodman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Greater Sweet Beulah Apostolic Church, 137 Maple Street. Suffragan Bishop Madison G. Copeland will deliver the eulogy. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
