Mother Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" Lawrence Price; our devoted loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend departed this life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the later hours of the day to be at rest.Born on September 19, 1932 in Capron, Virginia to Luther and Lucy Lawrence. Proceeded in death her husband, Raymond Price; her father, Luther Lawrence; her mother, Lucy Lawrence; her grandmother, Catherine "Mamie" Dickerson; her grandfather, James Dickerson Sr.; her son, Perry Dean Johnson, Jr. her daughter Brenda Jean Johnson, grandson, Chuckie Terrell Johnson and brother, Claude Lawrence, Jr.She attended Franklin Public Schools and completed her education at Franklin Senior High School in Franklin, Virginia. Margaret moved to New York and worked for Trigon Electronics Company and proceeded to work for the Harris Corporation in Syosset, Long Island, New York where she retired and then moved to Florida and became a caregiver for her mother until she transitioned.She had six children, whom she adored and parented with spiritual guidance, love and patience. She loved music and singing especially gospel. She was in a gospel group seemingly named "Ray Price and the Rayettes, the love for singing for the Lord grew and manifested itself. She had such a captivating voice and anyone who heard her was automatically drawn to her words. You would often find her working in her garden, planting vegetables and flowers. She was proud of her beautiful tomatoes, collard greens and cucumbers and shared them with her neighbors. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing at the fish pond and helping with church activities.With all of her heart; she loved her children and they loved her too. Mother Price was a great inspiration to the young and old, she and a heart of compassion for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who has crossed her path. She leaves to morn three daughters, Maxine Blanchard (Johnnie) of Melbourne, Florida, Regina Price of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Ramona Price of Hempstead, New York; son, Raymond Bernard Price of Troy, New York; sister, Cora Rious of Washington, D.C; six sisters-in-law, Dorothy Price of Birmingham, Alabama, Linda Robinson, Chris Hawk, Lydia Gail Brown (Alphonso), Beverly Anderson and Betty Joe Edwards all of Dothan, Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Charles Price (Maxine) of Newark, New Jersey and Robert Price (Judith) of Dothan Alabama; a special nephew, Gregory Lawrence of Suffolk, Virginia, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville, Highway, Franklin, Virginia 23851. Pastor Alfred D. Brown will officiate and Suffragan Bishop Madison G. Copeland will deliver the eulogy. She will be laid to rest in Southview Memorial Cemetery.
