Artha Lee Allen

Artha Lee Allen, Sr. of Suffolk transitioned on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Alex Jordan and Alma Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma P. Allen. He retired from Newport News Shipyard as a forklift driver and sheet metal worker after 21 years of service. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church where he was a trustee  and former usher. He leaves to cherish his memory  two daughters, Phyllis A. Allen of Windsor, VA and Velma E. Artis of Suffolk, VA; one son, Artha Lee Allen, Jr. (Kamika) of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer Artis, Josiah Allen, and  Breanna Allen; sister, Ruth Day of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church.
