Jonathan Demollow Saunders, Sr.

November 4, 1967 — August 31, 2016

On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and faithful friend received his Crown of Life from our God. Jonathan Demollow Saunders, Sr. was a native of Suffolk, VA residing in Hampton, VA for more than 20 years.  He was the son of Celesia Weaver of Suffolk, VA and the late Robert Drayton, Sr.  Jonathan was a member of “The Living Word Ministries”, Newport News, VA and Mt. Calvary The Holy Church of God, Smithfield, VA.  He was a graduate of John Yeates High School, Class of “86”.  He was also a truck driver at Central Transport and a Deacon of The Living Word Ministries.  Jonathan was devoted to being a provider for his family and serving the Lord faithfully. Jonathan is survived by his loving wife, Comarth Saunders, to whom he shared 22 years of marriage; also by Devoted Daughters: Janell Saunders – Woodstock, Vermont and Conesia Saunders – Hampton, VA; Devoted Sons:  Brandon Saunders (predeceased), Charles Johnson (Shaunice) – Newport News, VA and Jonathan Saunders Jr. – Hampton, VA;  Sisters:  Corenda Moore (Russell) – Gainsville, Florida, Lisa Allmond (Dwayne) – Suffolk, VA, Mechelle Cooke (MarQuie) – Suffolk, VA and Andria Hicks (Wallace) – Suffolk, VA; Sister–in-Law:  Corine White – Bronx, NY; Brothers:  Robert Drayton Jr., Darryl Davis, Heath Boone (Amy), Andre Drayton (Ebony) – all of Suffolk, VA, Quenton Weaver (Myashia) – Hampton, VA; Special Parents:  Robert and Azurea White – Elberon, VA;  3 Grandchilren:  Ka’liyah, Caleb and Kiara – all of Newport News, VA; Predeceased Siblings:  Rodney Drayton, Kevin Drayton and Myran Saunders; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”     Matthew 11:28A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries. Pastor Charles Spivey-presiding, Apostle Gary Rodgers-eulogist, Bishop Viola Parker, Pastor.
