Emilie Maurice Strothers-Butler

Emilie Strothers Butler, 76 of 108 Raleigh Avenue, Suffolk, VA transitioned June 27, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Beacher David Strothers and Annie Whitfield Strothers. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Butler; daughter, Jennifer Butler; three brothers, Calvin Strothers, Sr., Jackie Strothers and Williams Simmons. She retired from Sentara Obici Hospital after 33 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Cynthia B. Harding (Lloyd), Anita Butler Savage and Tonya M. Shepherd all of Suffolk; three sons, Ronald N. Butler of Portsmouth, VA, Timothy T. Butler (Darlene) and Tommie L. Butler (Anessa) both of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Cecil S. Cherry (Clarence), Carolyn Johnson and Brenda S. Cofield all of Suffolk; two brothers, R. Ulysses Whitfield of Suffolk, VA and R. Allen Strothers, Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; eighteen grandchildren, forty four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 2, 2016 at True Gospel Ministries. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
